A few last minute Halloween goodies

So about a month ago I decided I was going to make slipcovers, for these pillow forms that have been sitting around here, for every holiday. So here are the ones I finished just in time for Halloween this year.

I used fabric that I had sitting around in my fabric stash (or as my husband calls it my fabric hoard).  My girls really liked the Happy Halloween on the 1st one.

When I finished this one they thought it was adorable.  I love the little spiders!

Here are a couple close ups so you can see the edging fabric to.

And last but not least I thought we would decorate some cookies because who doesn't love a sugar cookie and a holiday is the perfect excuse!

I love how these spider web cookies turned out and they were SO easy.  I'm pretty sure making the cookies was the hardest part of this one!

Halloween Wreath

I got inspired and wanted to create a black feather wreath.  I found all the stuff for this wreath on sale at Hobby Lobby I only paid $10.54 for this!  I think it's SO cute and fun!  It will probably be my only Halloween craft this year but I do have some Thanksgiving and Christmas projects in the making!
Happy Halloween!!

Mod Podged Pumpkins and squash

So now that I am no longer in Young Women's I am on the Relief Society meeting committee and we get to plan all the fun extra activities that the ladies in our ward can participate in.  For October we did a Harvest Mania and talked about why we decorate and how to decorate on a budget and 2 of the ladies decorated a bunch of tables as samples.  They were beautiful!  We also had a table of food that was made from our "Harvest" from our gardens.  They were yummy too!  For an activity we did these pumpkins.  I did mine with my neighbor the next day because we had such a great turn out there just wasn't time for me to do it that night.  I also did those little squash.
I am going to keep them through the Thanksgiving holiday as well!  Those little squash are gonna make their home in a cornucopia!

A little sewing time

SO school is in and I have a little time to get some sewing done. I bought these three fabrics to make a couple purses out of but they've just been sitting around waiting for me to get to them.  Well I found this cute pattern for the little girls and thought this would be a great fall outfit.

I took me one evening of cutting it all out and then the next afternoon to get it put together.

This is what I got out of it!!

I think it turned out great.  I think the most difficult thing was finding jeans to add the embellishment to.  They really like the way it turned out.  SO fun, and they get lots of compliments on it!

Pattern Tester

So I saw an add somewhere is computer land about being a sewing tester.  I answered it and let her know of my interest.  My payment would be that I got the sewing patterns for free if I just sewed up a little something and took pictures and sent her an email.  I knew it was something I could do.  Here are the 1st 2 patterns she sent me.  I made the first pair a 9 because that is the size I wear.  Well it was a bit small so Bailey got the first pair.  She LOVES them, she even asked if she could wear them to school.

I love the colors in these, so bright and fun.

These were the 2nd pattern I received.  I made these a 10 and they fit just right so I think her sizing is a little off. You know by like a whole size.
She loved the fabric I used for these and they are really fun.  They are a moccasin style and I had to do a little hand stitching on them.
I'm awaiting my next pattern which is supposed to be a purse and I do love to sew purses and my girls love them.  Although I am looking for a new purse for me so we'll have to wait and see.  I'll try and keep posting these fun patterns I am receiving.

Western Idaho Fair '11

So apparently I have been neglecting this blog something horrible.  So sorry to any of those who actually read it!  SO WAY back in August we had our local Fair.  My girls are all in 4-H and we had to submit their things I figured I'd drop off a few of the things I'd made through the year.  I was pleasantly surprised to find...

A blue ribbon on one of my purses.  I have to say this is probably the worst display job they could have come up with for a purse but it is what it is, I'm just glad to see a blue ribbon on that baby!

The white dress is not mine but it is cute, however the doll bed IS mine.  John made the bed, although we didn't turn it in to be judged it was just the holder to my doll bedding which I received a 2nd place ribbon on.  Not too bad! This is Maddie's bed for her dolls, she is my girl who loves blue!

This is one of the diaper cases that I have been making for a while now.  The mom's I've been giving them to LOVE them and the mom's that don't have them wish they did.  I thought I would enter it in to see what the judges thought.  It was worthy of a 2nd place, I won't complain too much about that!

Here are some of the paper craft things I entered. The top left is a Stamped card I got a third, on my Valentine card in the top right I got a 4th place on, my scrapbook page I got 4th which I was OK with because in previous years I didn't even place and the bottom right is my wedding card. I got a 2nd on that which bummed me out because I guess in the heat the glue didn't stick so well so by the time they judged it had come loose.  Oh, well, what do ya do?!

Here is my Christmas card that i entered, VERY disappointed with this, I didn't even place and last year I got 1st so I was a bit bummed.  It's all in who is looking at them and their own opinion and apparently they didn't like my style as much as they like the gaudy over the top style which were the ones that got the blue ribbons this year.  Oh, well.  Maybe next year!
So I hope you enjoyed that little sampling of things I thought were worthy of being judged!
